Femininity Rules

When it comes to 'feminine' fashions some are simply scared away. Images of  Desperate Housewives or Stepford Wives can send many running for the hills and others quietly sighing, dreaming of those midi length 50's style dresses, pretty shoes and pastel tones.

But fear not my worried feminine haters, worriers and doubters as you too can pull off the feminine SS13 style. While the feminine style is mainly made up of pastel tones, dresses and lace detailing you can take one main piece, team it with a couple of other feminine toned pretties and then completely shake it up by adding say three or four non feminine pieces.

I absolutely love mixing the feminine with the masculine for I suppose the best yin and yang fashion balance, take a masculine fabric such as leather and team it with dainty accessories and say a lace top for a super sexy but balanced outfit.

Here's an example I prepared earlier.
Feminine Rules

Here I've taken a gorgeous pastel pink Ted Baker Kipp dress and teamed it with more feminine accessories such as these pretty Next rope bracelets and this Tom Ford nude lipstick. While the centre products are entirely feminine I decided to balance out this by adding some structured masculine products such as the Nars Black Back Room Polish (from the Andy Warhol Collection) to balance the nude pink lip, I teamed this with the angular triangle Pacsun necklace and this rocking Patrizia Pepe denim jacket and Guiseppe Zanotti high heeled shoes

While the added items are dark, they still have feminine details such as the fit on the denim jacket. This will surely show those womanly curves and hold you in the right places, the Zanotti heels while they are very structured they still have the dainty feminine stiletto heel and dainty ankle straps and even the Pacsun necklace has the right balance of feminine with the dainty chain.

So while it can seem a scary prospect trying to pull of pastels for the ultimate feminine outfit, this shows you that you can still rock this style without going over board. If however you are very much a Stepford Wife type of girl (like myself) then here's how you can pull off the ultimate feminine (wearable) outfit for SS13.

Prim & Proper
Again taking the same feminine pink Ted Baker dress and the same Next rope bracelets and Tom Ford nude lippy, I teamed these products with more feminine 'girly' toned products. For example the gold boucle River Island jacket is still wearable and will still show off your curves, the Kardashian gold toe heels are the right shade of nude to offset the pink and the Essie Angora Cardi (Fall Collection) polish is the right shade of mauve/plum to give this outfit some depth, I also really adore this Lauren Hope tassel necklace with the bright pop of blue  and I can see this hitting my jewellery box after my spending ban.

So as the old saying goes 'opposites attract' this can be true for styles that freak the living daylights out of you. If you are freaking out at the prospect of pastels or white for SS13 try teaming them up with their opposite tones or stick within a similar colour palette like I did above.

You can find all of these products and more over on my Shopcade if you fancy taking a peek and you can also sign up for your own Shopcade account by clicking HERE.

So which style do you prefer and will you be rocking your pretty pastel feminine clothes this Summer?
