Spring Forward Fashions

There are so many new and exciting trends for Spring and Summer. that it can be daunting choosing which styles you will be adding to your wardrobes. Like many others I really like a lot of designers and  their current SS13 pieces that I had to create a 'Spring Picks' board over on my Shopcade

The main trends are

Monochrome - VB, Chanel, Celine, Balenciaga and Miu Miu
Sixties - Moschino (Of course), Prada, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Gucci
Graphics - Mary Katrantzou, Fendi, Kenzo, Peter Pilotto and Proenza Shouler
Peek A Boo Sheers -Topshop, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Missoni and Christopher Kane
Florals - Erdem, Preen, Thakoon, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Jason Wu
Colour Pops (E.G/ Blue's & Orange) - Stella McCartney, Preen, Fendi, Jonathon Saunders and Richard Nicoll

So taking these trends on board I personally chose a few lust-worthy pieces, such as the Aztec printed midi skirt which falls in to both the sixties and graphic trends, black fringed kimono which falls in to the peek a book and monochrome trends, bright pink Marc Jacob mouse slingbacks which fall in to the 'totally freaking awesome' category as well as being a colour pop and finally my favourite; the Coast Amelie dress which falls in to the lady like, brights and floral print trends.

I do try and cater my trend boards to accommodate all shapes, price ranges and sizes so don't ever feel that you can't get away with a trend, If you like to be stylish my advice is simply pick one style and  make it work for your own body shape and personality; you can always then reach in to the other trends with your accessories, footwear and bags.

The reason I say to pick a trend is purely because there are so many trends for each season you can't really be out of style if you follow the rules above. For every trend there's another to counteract it so while you might be hitting it with a graphic outfit your outfit may also fall in to other styles such as sixties, native or neon's. Here are some examples of how one style can fall in to another...

Take a look at the list below, these are all currently 'in' for SS13 but have nearly covered every option for fashion styles.

Style: 80's-grunge - 90's
Colours: Colour pops - Neons - Monochromes - Lego Colours - Citrus - White - Blue - Pastels
Shape: Volume - Structured - Triangle
Prints & Style: Sixties - Graphics - Ladylike - Feminine - Snake Print  - Native

A great starting point is to decide what image you want others to perceive you as, maybe you want to be confident, ladylike, retro, glamazon or business like. From there choose your favourite colours and then choose your pieces to suit your body shape and budget.  I do keep up to date with current trends, the best styles and prices on my page so if it fashion flummoxes you, take the pressure off by clicking on over.
