Dress: C/o Quiz Clothing / Boots: Simmi Shoes / Clutch: Next
Necklace: Primark/ Cardigan: H&M / Perfume: Aveda
I've been trying to plan my outfit for Valentine's Day (I'm a planner, what can I say) and finally decided on this one. I had to try it on though because my clothing size fluctuates daily (damn thyroid and kidneys) and while I use to be an 8, I find I couldn't even get a leg into that size anymore but I'm OK with that. Sometimes a 10 is good and recently I've had to buy more size 12's - the problem I find with buying a 12 is that they normally fit my hips and butt but are baggier on my neckline and bust area. Buying clothing is so stressful for me which is why dresses seem to be the answer to everything.
My gorgeous dress is by Quiz clothing, I find that Quiz offering a range of on-trend clothing more so than they used to five years back. I actually worked in Quiz when I was sixteen! The clothing was not as fashionable as they are now and I find their prices are affordable. I wanted to team my dress with some plain accessories such as my H&M kimono cardigan (cause it's chilly) and my Simmi shoe boots which I blogged about here. Jewellery wise I have my Gina Cox Stewart bracelets on, onyx chip bracelet and my Duepunti Red Diamond bracelet (post coming soon).
Plaids also pretty big right now and plaids don't seem to be leaving the catwalk anytime soon either. Rodarte, Phillip Lim, Karen Walker and Marc Jacobs all showing off their plaids and checks. Also being a Scottish lass I wear mines with pride and I'm happy enough to say this Quiz plaid wasn't itchy at all. This is a size 12 and it fitted perfectly, it has some stretch and to put it on you just pull it over the head. I loved that it didn't just skim my butt like most skater dresses so - let's be fair after 3 kids my butt should never be physically seen!
I will be wearing this outfit along with my MAC red lippy, my Next clutch and my Aveda Pure-Fume perfume, less is more with a plaid that's for sure. Quiz has a few plaid dresses and I did debate the 3/4 length tartan dress (here) but with my puffiness, I figured a dress that wasn't as tight would be a better option - I made the right choice. If you fancy getting in on the plaid action then this dress costs £22.99 and can be purchased from the Quiz website here.
