If you’ve got a load of old clothes lying around, don’t just throw them away. Get even more use out of them and try one of the following 10 things!
Alter Them
If you’re a little crafty, you might be able to alter your clothes. You can be as daring as you like, or play it safe. You could customise them by drying them different colours, adding badges, studs, and more. You could even turn them into a different item of clothing by using a sewing machine! If you’ve lost some weight and they’re now too big for you, you could even have them altered to avoid throwing them away.
Recycle Them
Recycling clothes is so much better for the environment than throwing them away. Pop them in an appropriate recycling bin, or consider letting other people get use out of them by giving them to charity shops.
Sell Them
If you think your clothes are still in good condition, consider selling them on. You could put them on eBay, Depop, or something else that you feel comfortable using. Some people even sell their old clothes via Facebook! If you like doing this, you could even start selling wholesale clothing for a profit and start a business on the side!
Give Them Away
Know somebody who could use a new outfit? It might not be new to you, but it’s new to them! Give something away and you might just feel good about yourself.
Hold a Swap Meet
You probably know a lot of people who have clothes they don’t want either. Hold a swap meet so you can all swap clothes and end up with a totally new wardrobe! It’s a great way to get rid of unwanted items and come home with a few items you really like for nothing.
Make a Lamp Shade
If you have an item with material that you love, why not make a lampshade? You’ll never have to get rid of it, and there are lots of methods you can use. You can even make a shabby chic style shade by using multiple materials.
Make a Rug
Making a rug out of old clothes can look really unique and cool. It’ll take a bit of patience, but it’s a great idea if you like to try out fun new projects.
Make a Cuddly Toy
Making cuddly toys is possible out of old clothes too. There are a ton of tutorials online, and you can give them as a gift if you like!
Make a Purse
Need a new purse? Transform an old pair of jeans! Denim is huge again this year, so make a statement with a denim purse.
