Are you planning a well-deserved holiday? Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a prolonged 1-month long holiday, you need to make sure that everything is in place before you travel.
This way, when you leave, your home will be safe, you won’t have to worry about forgetting anything, and most importantly, you’ll be able to truly relax and enjoy the experience. Nothing dampers the mood during a holiday than worrying about things that were left undone.
In this blog post, we’ll share with you, the top things you absolutely need to take care of before you embark on that trip.
Take Care of all Perishable Food

This means either packaging them up and storing them in the fridge or eating them. If you’ve got too much food, consider giving some away to friends, family, neighbors, or even the homeless.
This is better than coming back home to a bunch of food that has gone bad, and a smelly fridge. Also, make sure to clean out the sink, and take out the trash. A dirty kitchen will always attract insects and bugs into your home. Cleaning them out will prevent cockroaches and other insects from foraging for food in your home.
Notify Your Credit or Debit Card Issuers

Inform your bank or other credit card companies whose cards you own, that you’ll be traveling. This is particularly important if you’re traveling overseas. Most credit and debit card companies automatically flag all transactions from outside your known geographical territory.
Telling them ahead of your trip will not only help them make that allowance, but you’ll also avoid being stranded because your funds were blocked. Also, ensure that you have enough credit or funds on your cards.
Check Your Car or Motorcycle

If you’re going on a road trip, then you need to make sure that your car or motorcycle is in great shape. Have them checked at the auto or mechanic shop for tires, engine, fluids, and other important things.
The same applies to all motorcycles, including brands like BMW Motorrad, Honda, Yamaha, Harleys, Ducatti, or Royal Enfield. You need to make sure that your car or motorcycles are fault-free and can handle whatever the road throws at it.
As a rule, always check your tires. Worn or thin threading means you need to replace them with new ones with better road grip and traction.
Double-Check Your Reservations
Make sure to confirm every reservation you’ve made. This includes hotel bookings, flights, tourist destinations, vehicle rentals, and every other pre-booked activity or item.
These days, everything is done digitally, but we recommend having printed copies of everything. This will save you a lot of stress and ensure there are no mistakes.
Attend to Other Issues
This includes notifying someone about your destination, paying bills early, or leaving instructions about bill payments –this will help you avoid late fees, and pausing your mail delivery.
Also make sure to clear out the compound, notify your neighbors that you won’t be around, and inform your home alarm provider that you’ll be out of town. If you have security systems like Ring, make sure to keep them running so you can have real-time access to what’s happening in your home.
